How to Protect Water Ecosystems

Have you ever gone down to the ocean, or visited a lake, or a river and felt much better for it. There is a cleansing power that water has that is just pure, rejuvenating, and uplifting. Add this good energy to the desire to help the environment and you have a powerful plan for your next trip or travel adventure. There are numerous locations around the world where you can interact with local communities, enjoy wildlife, and assist with water conservation efforts all the while experiencing the rejuvenating experience of being near it or in it. I have put together some international locations that can be visited, enjoyed, and assisted with water conservation efforts.

Water for Nature Around the World

Iceland

This country has beautiful and unique geographical features due to its location, there are frozen glacier rivers, geothermal pools, and geysers. It is it is own place, however some of its attributes are similar in characteristics to Yellowstone National Park in that there is a lot of geothermal activity underground.

To learn more about supporting this country’s national parks and visiting, the Government of Iceland offers more information. Please see the following video and link for more information.

Thailand

Next there is Thailand. I have personally known a person in the Ecology lab where I worked at Rutgers University that has volunteered in this country through the Peace Corps. You can choose to help with water projects or other wildlife initiatives for shorter durations then an actual Peace Corps Tour which can be up to several years. You can spend a few days or a week helping out and be enriched by this activity knowing you are completing important work while viewing awe inspiring landscapes and waterways.

Mexico

Also, there is Cancun, Mexico which is famous for vacationing. They also require your assistance with various ecology restoration and marine wildlife projects that you can choose to volunteer for. If you would prefer a more temperate or warmer climate then this is your opportunity to help. GoEco is a wonderful organization that allows you to explore opportunities to volunteer in various conservation projects here as well as other places too. Southern Africa

Finally, there is the grand continent of Africa. If warmer environments and ecosystems are what interests you then, they also require your assistance too. There are numerous water and wildlife conservation projects that you can participate in here also. Scheduling and coordinating a travel adventure that includes volunteering would help immensely and give you amazing memories that will be beyond words. I have had friends and current coworkers that have visited this country and stated they would go back in a second.

Volunteer HQ offers volunteer opportunities for various conservation projects in this part of the world. Please click on the following link to learn more.
